I’ve always heard rumors that cell phones can interfere with metal detectors. Check out this video and see what happens when my iPhone 11 gets a little too close to the control box on my Minelab Equinox.
As you will see in the video, it looks as if cell phones can interfere with metal detectors. I usually keep my cell phone in a holster that I clip on to my belt. I wear the holster on my right hand side and there are times when the phone gets quite close to the control box on my Equinox.
If I move the phone to my left hand side, or put the phone in my back pocket, the interference problem goes away. If you’re finding that your Equinox is too noisy, try placing your cell phone in airplane mode and see if the chattering goes away.
